A short lived perennial that self seeds easily enough to establish a nice presence in the garden under the right conditions. Plants grow from 12 to 128 inches tall when in flower and have blue flowers with some purple-violet veining. Use in a sunny location that is well drained but moisture retentive. Plants bloom from mid spring to mid summer and will flower the first year from an early sowing - grow out cool for best results - so a mid winter sowing works very well. Zones 3-8. Sow at 55ºF, if no germination after 4 weeks, Move to 24-38F for 6 weeks, then back to 55F. High temps will prevent germination. 10 seeds | |
