Alpine Willowherb Onagraceae:
Epilobium dodonae is an alpine plant grows grow 1 to 3 feet tall, it has bright rose-pink flowers and thin willow-like leaves. This large rock garden plant has upright stems that end in a cluster of flowers. The flowers bloom in July to September. Plants produce multiple stem and have a subshrubby habit, forming slowly expanding clumps with reddish stolons.
Native to central and southern Europe, found in the mountians of France to Western Ukraine and the Caucasus, where it is found growing in hilly terain and alpine elevations, in sandy to gravelly soils. It is also found growing in rock crevices and rocky slopes.
