Living Rocks or Stone Plants or Egg Plants Aizoaceae:
Small, cute succulents with good sized flowers, which are produced within the crack in the center of the 'stone'. Mostly purple and white colored flowers which are large and daisy-like, but other colors occur also, namely different shades of yellow. Keep cool and in summer provide a shaded location. Keep on the dry side in winter, and during summer ONLY water when the plants start to show signs of drying-up. Needs a pot with very sharp drainage, otherwise easy to grow. The seeds are small, so care should be taken when sowing and watering the seedlings.
Zones 10b-12. Most often grown under glass in a small pot of crushed rock, clay and sand.
