Chrysanthemum coccineum 'Robinson Red'
Painted Daisy Asteraceae:
Large showy red flowers with yellow centers. This bushy 2-3 foot perennial produces 3 inch wide daisies in late spring and early summer. Plants are intolerant of hot humid conditions. They grow best in full sun in the North and part shade further south. The finely divided bright green foliage is attractive. A good cut flower, if the plants are cut back just as they are finishing blooming in early summer some reblooming can occur later in the summer. Plants like rich moisture retentive soils than are well draining. The clumps can be divided every few years in early spring or after flowering is done.
