Heliopsis helianthoides scabra 'Summer Nights'
Ox-Eye or False Sunflower Asteraceae:
This selection grows 3.5 to 4.5 feet tall and has daisy-like flowers. The flowers have golden yellow ray florets and deep orange centers. In the garden they bloom in mid to late summer; in most areas from July to September. The foliage in spring emerges from the ground burgundy red and the color fades as the stems and foliage grows. During blooming the foliage is red-tinted and the stems are tinted dark burgundy. Nice border plant and ideal for cutting. Best in full sun, and once established drought tolerant.
