Shorter growing plants, with flowering spikes growing from 15 to 18 inches tall from thick clumps with a number of spikes per plant with purple colored flowers and grassy basal foliage. Great for the front of the border or used in a strip garden along a fence or driveway. No staking is needed with this selection, even in half a day of shade. Great cut flower. An attractive selection for use in a mixed border with Purple Cone flowers, Coreopsis verticillate and upright sedums. Mid to late summer blooming. The flowering spikes are more club like than the taller forms of Liatris. Attracts butterflies and bees. The seeds are good sized and easy to handle and the seeds can be start in a cold frame in fall or sown in winter or spring.
