Aconitum carmichaelii 'Spatlese'
Light blue flowers cover the top 1/3 of 4 to 6 foot tall spikes. Dark green leaves on plants with clear blue flowers with some darker blue edging. Best in soils that are cool and moisture retentive but well draining in full sun to open shade. An attractive foliage plant and very nice in bloom also, flowering in late summer. This is an improved strain of the Wilsonii types.
Sow in a bag with moist seed mix and keep at 70F for 3 weeks, then move to 20-26F for 6 weeks then move to F 55 were germination will occur in 1-4 weeks, do not throw away seed trays for at least 12 months. Or sow out side in the fall for germination in the spring.
