    Mountain Everlasting

Slowly spreading plants with low growing foliage that is covered with short gray-silver colored hairs. In mid to late spring plants have short flowering stems that grow 4 to 6 inches tall with small clusters of wine red colored flowers. As the flowers age they fade to a pink color. The flower clusters are full and rounded in shape with the stamens upraised above - flowers look like fuzzy balls with dots floating just of the surface. Plants form a nice ground cover with a slowly spreading habit in rich gravelly soils in full sun to part shade. Plants are dioecious meaning they are either female or male. Very nice rock garden plant used in rock walls and upraised beds, with somewhat evergreen foliage.

Zones 4-8. This species is native from elevated locations in Europe and Northern Asia. Were it is found in sandy and gravely plains, open woods and mountain meadows. Avoids acidic soisl. Surface sow seeds and use 45F, germination is spread out over a few months. Might be helpful after 5 days to place the seeds in the fridge for 2 weeks.

    200 seeds
