Drought loving plants with blue-green leaves, plants grow only 4 inches tall. Forms dense carpets with greenish yellow turning brown-yellow flowers.

'New Zealand Bur' or 'Bidi-bidi'

Plants grow six inches tall and are a trailing evergreen for the rock garden. Two inch bronze green leaves with purplish red spines. The flowers are 1-1/4 inch in size and the plants grow up to 24 inches wide. Blooms July-September.

Zones 6-8. Grow in well draining soils that are not too fertile. Sow in moist seed mix in a bag and let stand for one week then place in fridge for one week. Germination at 60 F in 7 to 190 days. Do not over water, but keep the seed starting medium moist, use some coarse sand or sharp gravel and sow the seeds on top.
