'Prickly Poppy'

Large white flowers, that can be up to 5 inches wide, with yellow balls of stamens in the center. Plants grow 2 to 4 feet tall and have many short prickles spaced out all over the plants. The foliage is coated with small silver-white hairs. Blooms in mid spring to mid summer.

Plants can grow as Annual, Biennial or Perennials.

'Bluestem Pricklypoppy' or 'White Pricklypoppy' Papaveraceae:

Plants with large, poppy-like, white flowers and prickly stems, leaves, and fruits. The foliage has a blue-green color with silver marked veins. Plants grow from woody taproots and the seeds should be direct sown were they are wanted, plants grow 3-5 feet tall. Grow in gravely soils in full sun to part shade, this species blooms early and when done blooming can be removed and the area seeded over with another plant that will bloom late summer and fall, or use staggered sowings to produce flowering plants all summer.

Annuals. Warning - some people are sensitive to the sap and the foliage and seeds should never be consumed because they contain toxic chemicals.
