'Asparagus Fern'

Fine foliage, making them nice for pots and for cutting material. Bushy plants with white flowers that dangle down, followed often by purple-black fruits.

The species is native form South Africa. Scratch seed with a nail, making an 'X' then soak in warm water for 5 days, change the water every 12 hours with fresh warm water. Sow and cover with 1/8 inch of moist seed mix and keep moist and use 80F. germination in 2 to 3 weeks.

This hardy Asparagus is the species that is used for food. This form has very soft-fern like foliage -- that is very useful as cut flower material. Plants grow 4 to 5 feet tall.

Zones 4-9 Scratch seeds with a nail or rub lightly with sand paper then soak in hot water for 2 days. Sow by covering seeds completely with seed mix and use 78F, keep moist at all time. Germination in 1 to 8 weeks.
