Plants grow 4.5 feet tall and have clusters of pale-yellow ,bean like flowers in mid to late summer. Attractive upright plants with long upright,compound leaves. The plants look interesting early in the year with a promise of something spectacler th,e flowers are not bright and showy - so a type of anti-climax for those that see the blooms for the first time. One would expect more from such an impressive display of foliage and the thick stems that are produced earlier in the year. The flowers are not that showy but still an interesting native plant that likes moist but well drained soils in part shade to full sun. Deep rooted tap roots, so plant were you want them to grow early, will not take being dug up and moved.
