Centranthus means 'spurred flower' and of-coarse ruber is red, while the albiflorus means 'white flowering'. Plants grow two to three feet tall with fragrant showy white flowers. Makes nice fragrant cut flowers. Plants will flower the first year if started early. The foliage is soft almost succulent looking and a light green color. Plants have large white many-branched rootstock and do best if left alone once established. Zones 4-9. From Southern Europe and Northern Africa. Germination 10 to 21 days at 65 F, light helps. Plants will flower 15 weeks from sowing.

These seeds will produce nice darker shades of rose-red colored flowers. The airy heads of flowers make great cutting material. Plants will flower the first year if started early. Loved by Butterflies, long blooming with medium green, succulent, Sedum like foliage. Clump forming plants for full sun to light shade, best in soils that are neutral to slightly alkaline. In more shade they tend to be lax in habit but still flower.

Zones 4-9. Germination 21 days at F 65, light helps so surface sow.

Centranthus means 'spurred flower' and of-coarse ruber is red. This selection has rose-red colored flowers on plants that grow two to three feet tall. Makes nice fragrant cut flowers. Plants will flower the first year if started early. The foliage is soft almost succulent looking and a light green color. Plants have a large, white colored, many-branched rootstock and do best if left alone once established. Cut back plants after flowering to promote more flowering and prevent self seeding. On open ground, plants can readily self sow. Best in locations that are not hot and humid.

Zones 4-9. The species is native from Southern Europe and Northern Africa. Germination 10 to 21 days at 65 F, light helps. Plants will flower 15 weeks from sowing.
