Typical growinf conditions for this genus, plants have deep taproots and like deep gravely soils in full sun and on the dry side. The basal rosets of foliage look like some type of tropical fern, the flowers are not anything special but the bract leaves are fascinating. The flowers are greenish-white and contained in small clusters on upright stems that grow 15-19 inches tall. Plants have a lot of nice thorns, so best to look at them and not touch.
