	'Northern Gentian' Clusters of small medium blue flowers on the ends of 4 to 12 inch tall stems. The stems are lax and the best effect is a group planting of five or more plants, a subject for a rock garden and interesting when planted so the flowers trail over an edge. Blooms late summer. 	'Arctic Gentian' Gentianaceae: Another low growing species that is 1 to 4 inches tall with creamy white to off yellow colored flowers, some plants with blue - especially hybrids with other low growing blue species. The flowers are long and have ribbed sides marked in blue and the inside is often speckled with bluish spotting. Plants are very low growing with ground hugging basal rosettes of foliage and relatively large flowers that face upwards. Grow in moisture retentive soils that drain well in full sun. Blooms late summer and fall. Zones 3-7. This species is native to alpine meadows of the Rockies and other high mountain ranges in Western USA in bogs and wet meadows. 50 seeds.

	'Bottle Gentian' Gentianaceae: Attractive species that grows 1-2 feet tall with some what lax stems with tight clusters of tubular (bottle-shaped), deep blue colored flowers. Flower clusters top off the stems and the upper leaf axils in late summer to early autumn. Best in moister retentive soils that are rich and on the cool side. Plant in humusy, acidic soils that are well-draining in part shade. Plants grow into large clumps when happy and self seed around. Does very well in moist grassy locations. Long lived plants, sometimes feed on by woodchucks and scale insects. Not that tolerant of hot dry soils. Plants have deep, thick, white taproots that are brittle and once established do not like to be moved. Zones 3-7 Sow outdoors in late summer or use 2-4 weeks at 68ºF, 4-6 mths at 21ºF, move to 53ºF for germination. . Surface sow seeds, light needed for best results. 	'Willow Gentian' GENTIANACEAE Plants grow 12-36 inches tall and have arching habit. They bloom in late summer and early fall with nice solid Blue flowers that are shaped like a bottle. Best in well drained soils that are moisture retentive. Use in full sun to light shade around brushwood and grassy or open treed locations. 	[Gentiana alba]'Pale gentian' or 'Yellow Gentian' or 'Plain Gentian' This native north American Gentian has creany-white flowers over semi-glossy medium to yellow-green leaves. Plants bloom in late summer and the flowers look very much like a bottle gentian. This species is more upright growing than G. andrewsii reaching a height of 2 feet. Nice plants for a moist prairie planting or in a mixed boarder. If you also grow A. andrewsii allow them to cross pollinate [Gentiana ×pallidocyanea] and self sow-the offspring will produce some very attractive plants with creamy-white flowers rimed in blue. Plants maintain an upright form too. Your seedlings will take two or three years to bloom. Surface sow seeds and use F 50, bright light will speed up germination, which can be spread out over a few months. Sow in pot and put in a large clear ziplock bag and keep outdoors in late summer or use 2-4 weeks at 68ºF, 4-6 months at 21ºF, move to 53ºF for germination.
