	'Cardinal Flower' < font color = 'black'> Tall red spikes in late summer. Loved by many for its bright color and late blooming. This plant does best in constantly moist soils in full sun to bright shade. They resent dry hot soils. A magnet for hummingbirds, and butterflies. Flowering can start in late July and goes on to Mid October. In the garden give them water during dry periods in the summer. Will self sow if the soil is moist. 	Campanulaceae Bright, showy red-orange colored flowers on dark tinted stems with mahogany-red to bronze colored leaves. Showy in flower and attractive even when not blooming. A hybrid with a less hardy south American species. Plants grow 3 to 5 feet tall and need about 3 feet in width. Best in moist soils in full sun to part shade. Blooms late summer and fall. Zones 6-10.
