Lobelia

Some species of Lobelia are well known garden plants used very freely as edging for ribbon beds, or basket plants, or for the perennial border. They require a loose rich soil and some fertilizing when in full flower. The flowers bloom over a long period. They are generally easy to propagate from seed, though the seed is very small and care is needed when sowing. Lobelia erinus is a species used for bedding and pots, it typical grows about 6 inches tall, they are one of the most popular of all annual edging plants.
