	'Jerusalem Sage' (flo-MIS: froo-Ti-Ko-sa) This species is grown both for its flowers and its bushy-almost shrub like habit. Felt-like foliage on 30 inch tall stems with yellow flowers. Needs well draining, dry soils and full sun. Flowers are produced on new growth so a good trimming in the spring is useful. 	(FLO-mis: sah-MEE-a) This one is the true species, those plants sold as P. samia with yellow flowers are P. russeliana. This species grows 4-6 feet tall and has dull purple flowers in whorls around the stems. Attractive gray-green foliage. A vigorous species forming large clumps with spreading stems and like the other Phlomis species, it needs well-drained soils in full sun. This species is native from Greece to Yugoslavia throughout Western Asia and Northern Africa. The species name comes from the island of Samos in the Aegean Sea, were they are found growing. Germination in spread out over many weeks, use 3 weeks at 80�F. In no results then 4 weeks at 40-45F, then back to 68-75F. keep moist but not overly wet. 30 seeds.

	Grows 4 to 6 feet tall, with violet-purple flowers in whorls around the stems. Attractive gray-green foliage and a shrub like habit. Like the other Phlomis species, it needs well-drained soils in full sun. Native from Eastern Europe to Siberia - were it is found growing in dry, rocky, well draining ground. Blooms in mid summer. Zones 4-9. This species evergreen in the south but in the north its leaves die over the winter, keep dry in the fall and winter. Germination in less than two weeks at 70ºF, if no germination put in the fridge (34-39F). for four weeks, them move back to 70F. 30 seeds.
