'Blue Spiked Rampion' Or 'Rampion' Campanulaceae:

Blue flowering form of the species with yellowish-brown to blue stigmas. Plants grow about 15 inches tall with Inflorescences that are dense and at first ovoid to globule in shape; as the flower heads age, they become more cylindrical in shape. This attractive perennial species for the rock garden. It has narrow, lanceolate leaves and upright flowering stems.

Zones (5)6-9

Native from South Central Europe and the northern part of the Balkan Peninsula were it is found growing in open woods and meadows in rich, well drained soil in full sun to part shade. Surface sow the very small seeds on top of already moist, clean, seed medium. Keep at 60-70ºF and if no germination in 3 weeks, move to 24-39ºF for 6 weeks, then move back to 65-74ºF for germination. Best to water from below so the small seedlings are not damaged during watering. We use 5.5 inch square pots put in 1.5 to 2 gallon plastic bags, and when we water we pour the water down the side of the bag, and the water is wicked up from the bottom of the pot to the seedlings threw the soil medium.
