'Wild Petunia' or 'Hairy Wild Petunia' or 'Fringeleaf Wild Petunia' (roo-EL-ee-uh hew-MIL-is)

Plants are low growing foliage with flowering stems up to two feet tall. The flowers start with a tube-like corolla and are bell-shaped with a wide open petunia-like appearance. The flowers are purplish colored, up to 2 inches wide and three inches long with five shallow rounded lobes. May to October bloom period. The lavender to lilac colored flowers appear singly or in clusters at the upper leaf axils. The plants are hairy, including the flowers. Grow in dry well draining soils in full sun to part shade.

'Smooth Wild Petunia' Acanthaceae:

Plants grow 2.5 feet tall with pinkish-purple colored flowers that look like petunia. The flowers only open for one day but are produced in good numbers over the blooming season with plants bloom from late spring into late summer. The flowers are 2 inches wide and 2 inches long with some darker veins. They like moisture retentive soils in part shade.

Zones 5-8. Native from eastern USA.
