'Great Burnet'

Plants grow up to four feet tall and have attractive compound leaves. In late spring densely packed spikes of reddish to reddish brown flowers are produced that bloom from early to late summer. Plants like moist but not wet soils. Best used as a filler species in the boarder, mixes well with some of the larger Primula.

Zones 4-8.

'Alaskan Burnet' or Japanese Burnet or 'Menzies' Burnet' (san-GWIS-or-buh; menz-ESS-ee-eye) Rosaceae:

Crimson-maroon colored flowers in small head-like spikes, end 2 foot tall wiry stems, which are held over attractive long step-ladder like foliage. Nice foliage plants with a long blooming period and attractive when done blooming too. best grown in full sun in moisture retentive soils that are nether wet or dry, but tolerant. Shade produces leggy plants.

Zones 2-10. Native from Alaska and western Canada
