'Haage Campion' (hah-GEE-ah-na)

This Hybrid has large orange to red colored, Maltese cross shaped - flowers on shorter growing plants that reach a height of 10-15 inches tall. Very showy in the front of the border were they will bloom best in full sun in well draining but moisture retentive soils. Blooms in Late June and July. I like them along a fence or mixed in amongst Catmints and Sedum's. After flowering plants can be cut down or you can leave the seeds heads on till they dry and use them as dried cut flowers in a small dried flower arrangement. Plants tend to go dormant in late summer and will return next spring. they are noticeable from a good distance and are hardy in Zones 3-8.(The roots are not so hardy in the north (Zones 3-4) - so plants grow in to thick short clumps after 2 or 3 years and should be divieded if you want taller plants)
