A compact growing 'Goldenrod' reaching 18 to 24 inches tall with a nice upright habit and dense heads of small golden yellow flowers during mid summer. Plants will bloom the first year if started early and they are attractive to butterflies and make nice additions to cut flower displays. Plants are clump forming and non-spreading. Grow in full sun to part shade in well most soils that are not wet. Plants bloom the second year but if grown well or started inside- they will bloom the first year. These plants form a nice thick clumps with dense clusters of golden flowers, very showy in mid summer. This selection will be the first Solidago to bloom with our plants blooming in July. Use in full sun, makes a great addition to the grass garden or prairie planting. Great in the mixed boarder too.

Zones 4-9. Germination in two weeks at 65-70F. surface sow the small seeds, seedling have a good growth rate for perennials and can be transplanted out in a few months.

'Riddell’s Goldenrod'

Nice golden-yellow colored flowers in late summer to early fall. This species is best used for wet areas of wild gardens, prairies, meadows and other native plant gardens or naturalized wild areas. Best in moist soils in full sun- plants spread under ground to form large spreading clumps growing 2 to 3 feet tall. Zones 3 to 7. Native to Flowering Sep–Oct. Wet prairielike sites and marshy ground in Man., Ont.; Ill., Ind., Mich., Minn., Mo., Ohio, Wis.
