	Tall up right growing spikes of densely packed flowers in medium to dark blue. Nice firm stems and thick foliage. Plants grow 24 inches tall and about the same in width. 	These mat forming plants produce 12 inch tall, somewhat lax stems. The spike-like stems are covered with bright sky blue flowers. The stems have many branches and make a nice display of flowers over many weeks in summer. After blooming, cut back hard to produce an attractive mound of low growing bushy foliage. Starts off as a bushy upright perennial, as plants age they become a slowly spreading mat with many small leaves that produced a number of thin, wiry, stems with many flowers. A nice bright blue color that stands out in the garden and mixes well other low growing perennials. Grow in an area with good soil that drains freely but is not overly dry in full sun to light shade. Plants will bloom the first year. Zones 4-8 Cover seeds very thinly with soil medium, best to surface sow and then sprinkle some soil medium over them; use F 70 with germination in 2-3 weeks. 	'Silver Speedwell' or 'Woolly Speedwell' SCROPHULARIACEAE: Very nicely silver-gray colored foliage with deep-violet/blue flowers. Plants grow one foot tall when in flower in mid summer with clumps of many stems about the same width. The foliage grows about six inches tall with six inch tall spikes of flowers blooming from mid June into late July. A showy display in the garden for well drained soils that are moisture retentive in full sun to morning shade. Soils should be on the rich side with a sandy organic soil working the best. Plants will flower the second year and will the first year form into a nice attractive clump. Zones (3)-4 to 7-(9) Avoid hot muggy weather for extended periods). The species is native to northern Asia including Russia. Germination in less than two weeks at 68ºF. Surface sow seeds, light needed for best results. 60 seeds.

	'Creeping Blue Speedwell' (veh-RON-ih-kuh: REE-penz) The shortest species offered here with plants only growing an inch or two tall and producing soft lilac, bluish-white flowers. Full sun to light shade in well drained soils but moisture retentive. They will not do well in hot, dry soils. The leaves are small and a dark green color with a shiny gloss. In late spring or early summer, the small star-shaped flowers are produced on short spikes that almost cover up the foliage. Nice plants used in the Alpine house and Rock Garden or as a groundcover. 	(ver-OHN-i-kah) Scrophulariaceae. This is a great shorter form that is useful as a ground cover, the foliage forms a nice thick mat. Plants grow 2 to 6 inches tall when in flower and 12 inches wide with nice medium-dark blue colored flowers in many spikes. Blooms from early summer to frost, deadhead every few weeks to promote more flower production. Use in well-draining, gravely soils in full sun. Zones 3-8. The species is native from Europe and Central Asia. Seeds germinate very irregularly over a long period (1-7 weeks). Lower temperatures of less than +5°C (41°F) are very effective for breaking seed dormancy and initiating germination, once germination begins slowly move to 55-60 F for growth. Plants form mounding clumps with flowering stems grow up to 20 inches tall, with the foliage 5-12 inches tall. Blooms early to mid-late summer. Sow seeds and use 70 F, keep moisture (not wet). 	Excellent type with tapered blue flower spikes that are 6 to 8 inches long over deep glossy green foliage, flowers the first year in about 15-20 weeks after sowing. Plants grow 14-20 inches tall and are best used in full sun to light morning shade. Nice thick dark green leaves with many blooms and good 'substance.' A great plant for pots and useful as a cut flower. Plants bloom in 20 weeks from sowing, keep well fertilized. Easy. Zones (4)5-9 Cover seeds.
