[Symphyotrichum ericoides] 'White Heath Aster'
White flowers on plants that grow 3 to 4 feet tall. A number of aster cultivars are sold as "Aster ericoides." But are not truly from this species but are from European garden plants and tend to be cultivars of S. dumosum, S. lateriflorum, S. pilosum, or S. racemosum, or hybrids involving one of those species and another species. The misapplication of the name ericoides dates as far back as the nineteenth century and even now some aster cultivars are still being misnamed.
