'Perennial Honesty' (loo-NAIR-ee-uh: re-div-EE-vuh) Brassicaceae: 'Mustard Family'
Plants bloom in mid spring with rosy-reddish violet colored flowers and have seed pods in mid to late summer that can be harvested for cut flower arrangements. The pods are not as large as the other species offered but the plants are longer lived. The flowers are scented and can be used as a cut flower but they are not as large and showy as Lunaria annua. Grows about 2 feet tall and best in part shade on well draining but not dry soils. nice large heart shaped leaves with incised margins. Self seeds on open ground.
Zones 3-9. native from Europe were it is found growing in damp woods. Start with 2 weeks at 50-75F then move to 24-38F for 10 weeks, move to 50F for germination.
Or sow in late summer/fall in a tray and keep outside over winter for germination in spring.
