'Lavender Cotton' or 'Gray Santolina' (san-toh-LEE-nuh: kam-ee-ky-par-ISS-us) Asteraceae
Softer yellow colored flowers and shorter than the normal species. With silver-gray colored, compact foliage. Very drought tolerant, grow in full sun in well draining soils, in zone 9 will take some shade. Rich and moist soils can cause plants to over grow and flop - trim back in late spring. More or less evergreen shrubby plants with balls of yellow flowers, growing 8 inches tall. An attractive formal looking plant.
Zones 6-9. Surface sow the seeds and use 40-60F with germination spread-out over many months. Keep moist but use well draining medium and do not water log. Keep seed trays for 2 years to make sure all the seeds germinate.
100 seeds.
