'Formosa Lily' (LIL-ee-um: for-MOH-sa-num) Liliaceae: Long white trumpets like an Easter Lily, this species has maroon shading on the outer sides of the trumpets. Will bloom the first year with a early sowing. Plants grow up to 7 feet tall. Scented. flowers on long stems that have long, thin grassy leaves. Generally easy to grow in full sun in well draining soils that hold some moisture in the summer but are dry in the winter. Plants blooming late summer. Zones 7-9. Zones 5 and 6 maybe, if planted deeply. Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Thinly cover and use 65-74ºF. Germination is spread-out over many months. 50 seeds.
