Plants grow 18 to 26 inches tall and bloom with bright cooper-red colored flowers in candelabra type clusters. The stems have 1 to 3 whorls of 3 to 8 red-tinged, orange flowers. Each flower is 1/2 inch wide. Best planted in groups of 5 to 15 plants. A nice alpine rock garden subject with 6 inch long, oblong leaves. Grow in moist soils that drain well (not boggy) in sun to open shade. Best grown as self seeding biennials. It is sometimes a short-lived perennial
