'Alpine Aster'
This selection grows 10 inches tall and has dark purple-violet flowers. Plants are clump forming and slowly form spreading mats that reach a width of 18 inches. Nice addition to the front of the border or rock garden, I find the Alpine Asters useful for their early flowering. Most of the plants with daisy-like flowers bloom later in the year. Blooms late spring-early summer.
Zones 4-7.
Surface sow seeds and keep moist but not overly wet, use F 70, germination is spread out over a number of weeks.
