'Blue Bugloss' or 'Italian Alkanet' These plants have very attractive amethyst-blue (bright gentian blue) colored flowers in late spring and with some trimming will rebloom. They make good cutting material too, adding a nice vivid blue color to the vase. Large hairy gray-green leaves are long and low growing. Moisture retentive soils but do not over winter in wet soils. Zones 3-8. Sow seeds and use F 75 Days and F 60 nights, germination in 3 to 9 weeks. Grow out the seedling under cool conditions (50-58F) for best first year plants. 20 seeds.
