'New England Aster'
Plants grow 36-40 inches (40 in = 1.02 m) tall and bloom in late summer and fall. Will bloom the first year. The 1 inch (1 in = 2.54 cm) wide, brilliant ruby-red flowers with yellow centers are excellent for cutting. Plants are clump forming and have short spreading rhizomes, great for the mid to back of the boarder or in the meadow garden, showy in late summer and fall. Nice cut flower too. Grow in deep well worked soils that are moist and rich (might need some staking or grow in lien soils for less size and more upright habit), use in full sun to part shade.
