[Machaeranthera bigelovii] 'Purple Aster' or 'Plains Aster' or 'Sticky Aster' Grows 2.5 to 3.5 feet tall with lilac colored flowers covering the plant in late summer-fall. The flowers are large and showy, growing up to 1.5 inches wide. This species produces many branches and puts on a very showy display when in bloom. Short lived but were happy will self seed, growing as annuals and biennials under most conditions. For a dry well drained location, likes sandy soils. Can be grown as cutting material for vases or bouquets too. Zones 3-9. Native for south western USA. 60 seeds.
