Saxifragaceae:

Large leaves like a Rodgersia but more round in shape, with Astilbe like spikes of small white flowers in late June and Early July. Best grown in heavy, organic soils that hold some moisture all season long. Resents drying out but doesn’t need to be wet to look great. Plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall and about the same in width once established. A few very large leaves are produced that are held out like large rounded fans over the ground. Takes about three to five years to grow a good sized plant. Very impressive plants with the large, rounded and shallowly lobed leaves. Give plants shade during the hottest part of the day, best with some morning and late evening sun - or open bright shade. Surface sow, fine seeds, water from below. Germination starts in 2-3 weeks at F70. If no germination put in the fridge for three weeks. Best to keep pots in a plastic bag until germination is complete- seed medium needs to be moist at all times but not wet. Seedlings are slow to start off and care needs to be taekn so that the germination seeds and smallplants do not dry up. Native from China and Korea.

Zones (3) 5-7.

50 seeds.
