'Amur Pink' or 'Amur River Pink'
Good sized (about 1 inch wide) Bluish-violet colored flowers that are frilled with slightly darker eyes. Plants grow one foot tall or so and may take on a lightly sprawling habit with many flowers produced from the ends of the stems. A valuable rock garden species for it's late summer flowering, which starts in late July and goes till mid September. Easily grown from seed, blooming well the first year with a late winter sowing. A good choice for poor soils that are well-drained. Plants often start blooming 6 to 8 weeks after sowing. Low growing blue-green colored, thin foliage. Plants have tall somewhat lax stems that grow 8 to 15 inches tall. A very interesting bluish rose color with darker ring around the center and large sized flowers.
Zones 3-8. Native from Siberia near the Amur River.
Germination in less than two weeks at 65-75ºF.
