This seed produces a wide mix of different foliage colors from dark green to dark
purple. Most will be on the greener side with purplish tinting with a number of darker selections
too. Grow in moisture retentive soils in open shade to part sun. Dry soils produce weaker plants
and good soils high in organic matter produces nice dense clumps with many stems in about 6
years. Grows 5 to 6.5 feet tall and blooms late summer and fall.
Zones 4-8. Start off with 16 weeks at 68-75ºF, move to 25-35º indefinitely,
germination is spread out over two years. Best if moved out side during winter for the cold
period. Cimicifuga along with most other woodland shade plants are good subjects for sowing in
a seed box or bed outside and moved when plants are large enough to transplant.
100
seeds.
