'Downy Wood Mint' or 'Downy Pagoda-plant' or 'Ohio horsemint' Lamiaceae:

Small flowers in crowded whorls around the 30 inch tall stems. A plant for the open woodland, or sunny wildflower garden. Related to the Monardas and even looking like them somewhat, but blooms early in the year while the Monarda tend to bloom mid summer.

Native from Eastern Half of the USA. Sow and use 24-39ºF for 12 weeks, then move to 68ºF for germination in a few weeks.
