This is a low growing clone of the species with a height of 5-8'. Plants have cup shaped bright orange flowers in late spring through summer and sometimes even into fall. Plants have spreading stolons (stems that spread out on top of, or just under the ground - like strawberries, but not as long (3-5 inches a year)). They make a very showy additions to the rock garden or the front of the border. Plants can also be used as an edging. Flowers are 1.5 inches across. Plant in well drained medium rich soil in full sun, Plants do well even in sandy soil. Be careful that you do not over crowd them with taller plants. This is a perennial species and division can be done in spring or after they finish flowering in summer. The species is native to South Eastern USA. The genus name is greek and means 'looks like a bug' - the seeds for Coreopsis look some what like wood ticks. Zones 4-9. Low growing with yellow orange flowers. Needs full sun. Zones 4-9. Surface sow seeds, light needed for best germination. Use 65F, 5-45 days.
