Vines with small hanging yellow colored flowers. The four sepals are cup shaped and filled with fluffy purple stamens. Plants grow about ten feet tall with leafy stems that clasp around supports. Flowering in August. Like Clematis tangutica but smaller flowers.
Zones 4-8. Native from Aisan far East were it is found growing in dry forests on slopes and gravelly river banks. Germination in 20-30 days at 50-55 F. nights and 68-78 F. days. Darkness helps, so cover seeds completely when sowing. The seeds that do not germinate in response to the above regime, move to 29-35 F for 6 weeks. Germination can be spread out over a few months.
