'Bonnet Bellflower' or <'Asian Bellflower'
The genus name means 'like a bell' And these plants are related to the bell flowers -Platycodon. CAMPANULACEAE. A semi climbing plant with bell shaped flowers in white with a bluish cast and purplish centers. Blooms from mid summer to early fall, growing 3 feet or more tall. May need some 'training,' plants are more happy to sprawl than really climb -- attractive flowers and scented too-but somewhat like a skunk. Use in full sun to light shade in well draining soils that do not become very dry. Native from central Asia.
Zones (3) 6-9. Use 4 weeks at 68ºF, if no germination use 4 weeks at 39ºF, then back to 68ºF. Germination starts in 10 days normally, lightly cover seeds.
