[Calliopsis basalis] 'Golden-Wave Coreopsis' or 'Goldmane Tickseed' or 'Dye Flower' (core-ee-OP-sis: bas-AL-liss)

This species is a bushy annual with upright flowering stems. The flowers are bright yellow with reddish-purple markings at the base of the flower rays. Plants grow best in sandy loam soils that are well draining, in full sun. Allow plants to self seed for years of flowers.

Zones 3-9

Native from southern USA including the states of: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. Were it is found growing on sandy dunes, prairies and savannas and along beaches. Surface sow seeds, Light needed for best germination, Use 65Fwith germination in 5-20 days.
