Named after a Vienna botanist, Joseph knapp. Plants grow 18' tall and have rounded, small yellow flowers that have notched petals. Plants do well mixed in the border mixed in here and there, does well in dryer soils. This species is more upright growing, and forms a small looking shrub with semi-woody stems giving rise to many branches and a good number of flowers in clusters at the ends of the branches. This being a yellow flowering Dianthus, makes it diffrent from all the others.
