'Field Pink' (mur-TEE-ner-vess-us)
The name means 'Veined like Myrtus' This species forms dense mats with small bright green leaves and many solitary single dark pink flowers. The flowers are 1/2 inch wide and have light pink eyes, blooms in the summer and best suited in a scree or well draining rock garden. Plants grow 2-3 inches tall and 4-8 inches wide. Like most Pinks, they like slightly alkaline soils, but are tolerant. Keep trimmed back, plants do tend to have a some what trailing habit which bulks up well with a little 'hair' cut. A great cushion looking clump with bright pink flowers. Zones 4-8. Native from Macedonia and Northern Greece.
100 seeds.
