'Amethyst Holly'
Many small amethyst-blue flowers on top of 2 foot tall stems. Deeply cut leaves are spiny looking and have a leather like texture. Great plants for cutting and in the landscape in dry soils in full sun. The spiny tipped, leathery textured, foliage is a dramatic summer effect enhanced by the late in the summer produced, powdery blue stems that have blue to amethyst colored flowers encompassed in spiny, silver colored bracts. Give this species very good drainage. Native from Italy and the Balkans.
