'Fleabane' or 'Spanish Daisy' or 'Bonytip Fleabane' or 'Mexican Daisy' (e-ri-ge-ron: kar-vin-SKEE-ah-nus)
The genus name means 'early old man,' Probably from the early forming white fluffy seed heads. The species is named after a Botanist who collected in South and Central America - Wilhelm Karwinski von Karwin. This woody based perennial forms a carpet 8-10 in. tall. A hardy perennial that will flower in just 3 months from seeding. The beautiful white flowers change to pink as they age and will bloom all summer. Plants will have a number of different colors on them at the same time with new flowers white and as flowers age they turn darker shades of pink. This species has 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide, daisy-like flowers and the plants are outstanding for beds, borders, tubs and hanging baskets.
Zones (5) 6-9. Native from Venezuela. Surface sow seeds and use F. 70. Germination is spread out over many weeks.
