'Fireweed' or 'Alpine Willow Herb' (e-pi-LO-bee-um: FLEI-sha-ree)
Denver Botanical Garden Plant Selection 2002. Long lived, up-right growing plants with purplish-pink flowers on reddish tinted stems. Plants grow 1 to 2 feet tall and bloom in summer into fall. Grow in good soils that hold some moisture but are well draining.
Zones 3-8. This species is native from the Alps. Surface sow seeds and use 4 weeks at 60-65F,if no germination then 6 months at 30-39ºF, then 72ºF. Or sow and keep out side over winter for spring germination.
