'Blanket Flower' or 'Indian Blanket'(gal-LAR-dee-ah: gran-DI-floor-ah) Plants are free blooming with large red flowers that have a yellow border, nice bicolor flowers on top of 2.5 to 3 foot tall stems, flowers are 4-6' inches wide. Good cutting material and does very well in the landscape. Drought tolerant plants that do best on lean soils. Heavy soils make for short lived plants and rich soils make for plants that produce a lot of foliage and flowering stems that flop. full sun best, tolerates light shade. Easy to grow and undemanding plants that flower over a long period during summer, taking heat and drought. With regular deadheading plants will bloom all the way till frost. Short lived perennials, if left to them selves they grow and flower well for three years then become 'woody,' Then they do not over winter too well.
