'Yellow Horned Poppy' or 'Sea Poppy' (GLOW--kee-um: FLAV-uhm) PAPAVERACEAE.
A some what sprawling plant that is best grown as an annual or biennial. Plants have pinnately lobed leaves that are a glaucous white in color. Long stemmed flowers are yellow and look like poppies with a center filled with fluffy yellow stamens. Plants do best in poor, well-drained soils in full sun, where they will grow 2 feet tall. Native from the Mediterranean regions. The genus name means 'Grey-green' while the species name means 'Yellow.'
Hardy in zones 5-10. Lightly cover seeds (darkness neeeded for best results)and use F 75, germination in 10-20 days. If no germination in 4 weeks move to the fridge for 3 weeks than back to F 75.
