'Creeping Baby's Breath' (jip-SOF-il-uh: re-PE-nz) Caryophyllaceae:
Semi-evergreen mat forming plants that grow 3 to 4 inches tall, covered with small white flowers in open panicles, blooming in summer. Best in full sun and alkaline soils, but tolerant of other soil types as long as they are not wet. Easy to grow with best flower displays under cool conditions. Rock gardens and walls, gravel soils and pots.
Zones 3-7. Native from Europe. Surface sow the seeds and keep moist, but not wet, use 70F with germination spread-out over many weeks.
