'Five-veined Sunflower' Asteraceae:
Plants grow 2 to 4 feet tall with 4 inch wide, bright butter yellow colored, sun-flower shaped, flower heads with large yellow centers. The plants have long thin leaves, with most of the foliage rising from the base of the plant and the stems having few leaves. This species is useful as a garden subject for its wildlife attracting abilities, birds will feed on the large seeds in fall and winter and butterflies will visit the flowers in summer.
Zones 4-8. Native from western USA.
