[I. mairei] (in-kar-VIL-ee-a: gran-DI-flo-ra) 'Hardy Gloxinia' (in-KAR-vil-ee-a: grand-FLOR-a) Dark pink flowers on top on 15 inch tall stems. Heavy tap root produce a roset of leaves in the spring and then flower stalks carrying large gloxinia like flowers that are up to 4 inches wide and have yellow throats. Should be grown in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Winter soils should be dry.
